Pete Fountain was best known from his numerous appearances as a soloist on the popular tv show, The Lawerence Welk Show.
This video is part of one of the episodes of the show, which was set up to have segments of a variety of performances. Pete Fountain went on to have a successful career writing music and performing jazz clarinet after leaving the Welk show in 1959. |
Best known for his playing with the Duke Ellington orchestra, Jimmy Hamilton was said to have a distinct tone and vibrato style. Hamilton's playing inspired Ellington to write some more clarinet in his music, and his distinct sound definitely had an impact on the overall sound of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
