Miles Davis was an extremely influential trumpet player who made huge strides in jazz from the 40's through the 80's. He is thought to be one of the most important figures in music history. Miles was known for his innovative melodies and complex improvisation style. Anybody who was anybody in jazz during the 50's and 60's played with Miles. His album 'Kind of Blue' was the best selling recording the history of jazz. His free spirit thinking also made Miles an important member of young society in the 70's, continuing to bring jazz to more people that may not have listened before.

Louis Armstrong is probably the most famous jazz trumpet player to date, and an extremely influential person in jazz. He was also one of the first popular African American musicians who was liked by both African American and White listeners. His trumpet playing was thought to be very inventive, and began to influence others with the idea of solo improvisation in jazz.

Dizzy Gillespie was an important and influential trumpet player known for his virtuoso style playing. Alongside famous saxophonist Charlie Parker, Dizzy helped set the way for bebop and modern jazz. He started his playing career in the 40's playing in groups with Cab Calloway and Ella Fitzgerald. He was also a successful composer, writing well known charts like 'Manteca','Groovin High', 'A night in Tunisia' and 'Salt Peanuts.'
